Rightfiber completes its purchase of Fastwyre’s Nebraska business

Rightfiber, a Grain Management portfolio company, completed its acquisition of Fastwyre Broadband’s Nebraska operations.

October 2, 2026

THE DEVELOPMENT

What happened

The acquisition follows the combination of Great Plains Communications and Ritter Communications under the Rightfiber name. Integration of the Nebraska business has begun, with customers to receive updates about billing, services and future changes. Financial terms were not disclosed in the announcement. The transaction covers Fastwyre’s Nebraska business, not its entire footprint.

PREMIA VIEW

What this means for operators and investors

For smaller broadband owners, this is another example of a regional business joining a larger platform. Buyers should examine customer retention and the condition of acquired networks alongside geographic fit. Engineering and construction firms should establish whether the buyer plans immediate upgrades, network connections or a period focused on integration.

WHAT REMAINS UNCERTAIN

Purchase economics, integration costs, network-upgrade budgets and future contractor awards.

DECISION QUESTIONS

Three questions stakeholders should answer now.

  1. 01
Which acquired markets require upgrades or additional fiber construction?
  2. 02
How will billing and support transitions protect customer retention?
  3. 03
Who now approves engineering budgets and contractor selection?

WHAT TO WATCH

What to watch next

Customer migration notices, local investment plans and procurement changes.
